Here is the question of the day:  What are my top 3 things to dramatically improve efficiency of Project Management

First one, create baselines and plan for them. There was a separate video on baselines, but I’ll repeat it here. You need to create a version of the project scope, schedule, and budget. Get a formal approval from stakeholders. Then you can start planning using these baselines.

The opposite to this approach is to do everything that stakeholders ask ad-hoc and hope that you will have enough time and budget by the moment they will be satisfied. To say nothing of the impact of constant changes. So, no matter what framework you use, do create baselines.

The second one, create and use a Work Breakdown Structure, and it’s principles. It is one tool that can help you define poor quality of requirements, determine project scope and make accurate estimates, show the complexity of a project to stakeholder, motivate and engage project team, help you with reporting and focus on what needs to be done.

I’ll put a link to the article on WBS near the video. It is a must-read.

The third one is continuous personal and professional improvement. Project management is a huge knowledge domain. I don’t think anyone can master it within several years. Even a decade. Moreover, everything is constantly changing. New ideas, new tools, and approaches appear every day. And there is always a way to improve yourself, your team, your company. Therefore, you need to dedicate time to read and learn something new related to your profession.

So, the three things that can dramatically improve the efficiency of your project management are:

  1. Baselines
  2. Work breakdown structure
  3. Continuous improvement.

OK, that’s all for today, if you want me to answer your question, please put it in the comments below. And do not forget to like this video. See you soon!
